[Ikebukuro, Tokyo. Another day, another journey outside his home office to just watch the city. He could have as well stayed in Shinjuku; it had parks too.

But Ikebukuro was his stomping ground. He attended school there. He got his start there. He spent more time in this city than in any other. And besides, he felt that the people of this busy ward were a lot more interesting than his secretary alone. Was it worth the train ride? Why not; he could afford it a million times over. All his toys were there too: the little leader of the Dollars, that monstrous parasite, his little shogun and of course, that vending-machine-chucking protozoan.

So he'd go there for fun. He'd go to West Ikebukuro Gate Park and see what goings-on would intrigue him the most. No sight of his acquaintances, so he just kept walking through the park with which he was so familiar. But-

He soon found himself in a clearing. In the city? In Ikebukuro? He considers pinching himself- it has to be a dream, right? Nope. He doesn't see any buildings that look familiar- no sight of the Tokyu Hands, Sunshine 60, or even that Animate store. He's not usually one for desperation, but seeing as he sees no people within ten yards-]

Hello? Is anyone out here?

[He shouts. He pleads. To be so far from home, and to be so separated from his beloved humankind was almost painful. Almost heart-wrenching.]

[The floor was melting.

He’d been here before. He knew he’d been here before. Somewhere in the back of his mind, an impossible memory had been tucked away for all these years – a memory of him falling through the floor, drowning, dying, laughing.

Now, before his very eyes, the trees were sinking into the very blackness of the earth. They giggled as they did so, their roots and branches reaching up from the ground as they attempted to drag the teen in the black cloak down with them.

Their scraggly roots slipped daintily around his ankles, tugging him down with half-hearted yanks – but it was enough to make his nonexistent heart pound over his chest. He slipped his hand over his chest – right where his heart should be – and ran.

In the middle of this macabre clearing stood a building enshrouded with light – a clock tower. It chimed with reckless abandon, counting down until midnight, or rather, counting down how long the figure in the black cloak had to reach the building.

Roxas hugged the building with his body, pulling himself up and off the ground, laughing with hysteria as he watched the trees sink around him. His limbs shook, trembling with either fear or adrenaline (or both) and perhaps he would’ve been able to breathe easy, if he did not see a figure in the clearing, unaware of the catastrophe that surrounded them.

Leave it alone, Roxas could not help but think. Natural selection. Survival of the fittest. The weak will not inherit the earth.

But he couldn’t just stand and watch.

The teen leapt off the building, sprinting toward the confused figure, stretching out a gloved hand toward them. He might have scared them – in fact, he was almost certain he did. His hood was pulled over his head, his figure cloaked in the color black, and he must’ve seemed to appear out of nowhere – but could Roxas, to this lone stranger, resemble hope?]

Take my hand! You’ve got to trust me!

[The floor continued to melt.]

Grim and ghastly ancient raven....

Three women wove their way through the heavy woods, light and all but silent in the darkness that seemed to grow deeper with every footfall. The tree's around the moved, sometimes outright disappeared and while they regarded them with an edge of suspicion, otherwise they seemed unbothered, unsurprised by the movement.

'I do not think,' the oldest looking one with silver hair said after a moment as she looked up at a raven flying overhead. 'our knack for finding out way is entirely successful.' The darkest one with raven black hair smiled and took her hand, squeezing it between her own.

'I can think of worse adventures we got ourselves into.' Which certaintly wasn't wrong. It had long been since they had last had such an adventure, however, and while Faerie was a strange place it seldom produced a place that they did not know, nevermind dumping them in there. Just the same the women were not at least outwardly overly concerned. Despite the fact that the one with deep red hair had a long silver sword out and was keeping an intent eye on everyone.

'You say that, sister, because you want a break from being Queen, not because this looks like an excellent place to come and play... though the ravens seem to like it well enough.' And they did. It seemed every raven and crow in the forest was finding itself a place to sit above them on the branches of the trees.

'Macha you worry too much. You'll go grey and then you'll be confused for Badb.' That only elicited an amused smile from the silver haired woman and a "Hmph" from Macha and eventually, a roll of her eyes.

Except, they realised a moment later... there was more than the ravens for company. Macha raised her sword in the direction of the intruder. 'Who goes there?'

[Arthur's been trudging through the wood for some time, completely unaware that he'd left Camelot's reaches behind with the last river. How many hours had it been, now? In the time he'd spent senselessly attempting to discern direction, the air had grown unfathomably cold; Chill winds now brushed the surrounding forest, fat snow flurries blotting out dour skies.

When he reaches a clearing, he stops.

None of it looked familiar. It should have –the hunting path he'd chosen hadn't changed in the fifty years since it'd been first beaten into the forest– but it didn't.

Pursing his lips, Arthur turns around to look for the path he'd struck on his way into the clearing. To his surprise he sees...nothing. No, worse than nothing– flawless snow. It couldn't have fallen so quickly, and yet...

Shivering, Arthur gathers his cloak tighter about his shoulders.]
